JOURNAL ENTRY #16 “SUNDIATA”

Having finished the book Sundiata, it was an overall good read and a great ending to a epic hero. As per discussion in class, I can see the great importance of family, tradition, and destiny. Especially given evidence of how Sundiata treated his mother when she was disrespected and insulted from the queen. The most intense scenario was when Sundiata’s mother was shunned by the community and made fun of for birthing a handicapped son. And the moment Sundiata walked on his own two legs, it spoke a lot to the readers and displays such willpower. Much of this can be related to the audience because I for one will also stand up for my family if they were insulted in such a way.
