JOURNAL ENTRY #10 “Oedipus Fate vs. Free will”

In the tale of Oedipus, there are great examples of fate and free will. Enough examples can be used for a great comparison to “The Odyssey” theme of fate and free will. Some examples of fate are the outcome that has sprung from the prophecy of him killing his father and being taking his mother as his bride. And some examples of free will are when Jocasta chooses to believe that the prophecy was all but just a lie near line 700. I was tasked with defending Jocasta from being a Sophist, and a piece of evidence that I have scrapped up was that even though she seems to have little faith in the prophecy, she does not question the Gods and much of the time she is seen praying to them.
