JOURNAL ENTRY #12 “MACBETH”

During classroom discussion, a great topic came up that caught my interest. It was discussing whether what elements drove Macbeth to commit his crimes. Was it Lady Macbeth, his ambitions, the witches or something else? I thought that the witches were a great catalyst for his accession and his fall. What made me felt this way was when they announced the prophecy of Macbeth to be king, but left out a great deal of his tragedy and his downfall. Almost felt like the witches were playing Macbeth like a fiddle and baiting his ambitions to go for the highest goal for a bigger fall. Such is a great case of perfect tragedy in ancient Greek terms.
