I have had prior experience with the book Inferno, especially the first part of it which is focused on the layers of Hell. The cartoon “Over the Garden Wall” was a show that I have watched during my childhood and seems to be a modern recollection of it. There are some similar scenes where the main characters Wirt and Greg goes through the layers of the forest and each episode will indicate a different level. It is even greatly indicated that Greg arrived in the forest because he had a near death experience, similar to Dante, who got lost from the living.
